Falling leaves, winter rain
Baggy eyes, foggy brain
Grayish mornings, waking pains
Nagging to break free of the chains

Sitting at my desk and chair,
Often casting a blank stare
Counting the hours by the minute
Lately, my heart has not been in it

The devil and fairy come as one
To tell me that my job is done
Sucker punch, I got the boot
Left to fall, no parachute

Yet all I feel is sweet relief
Excitement! leaves no room for grief
Thoughts a million in my mind
Grateful for what I’ve left behind

A butterfly, my weightless heart,
Fluttering for a brand-new start
Free fall must wait; I’m here to fly
Soaring unto the clear blue the sky
